Hiya,

Sometimes I notice my heart rate can be around 100, however right now its 66 which is normal, but occassionaly i become "aware" of my heart beat, its notnice feeling.

A few weeks ago when i was ill my bf was checking my pulse because I told him my heart felt like it was racing, he said that it felt as though there was no set rhythm and that my heart would of a sudden slow down fora few beats and then speed right back up again.

Any idea what this could be

too many variables...are you on any medication? do you drink a lot of caffeine? do you have a history of mitral valve prolapse? are you a smoker (cigs, pot...) do you do cocaine? how old are you?
do you have panic attacks? are you a smoker on birth control pills? are you overweight? do you exercise? are you a nervous person? do you get anxiety easily?
possibilities:
caffeine overusage
blood clots in lungs
mitral valve prolapse
smoker
cocaine use
anxiety/panic attacks
atrial fibrillation
low oxygen tension (smoker, cocaine, blood clots)
you may need to be evaluated...
next time this happens, I would have your BF take you to the emergency department and have an ekg done along with a chest xray
good luck

Hi heart rates should not stay up after exercise for an hour. You really need to go to a doctor and then a heart specialist and see why this is happening. There possibly could be something not right with your heart and it would be best to find out now. I would not work out any more until you see a doctor. At your age your heart rate should go down right after setting a few minutes after strenuous exercise. Please be seen so you have peace of mind too. Good Luck.

It could be SVT. Supravetnicular Tachcardia. Which is what I have. Very rapid heart rate acceleration, and skipping beats. They usually diagnose it with a heart monitor that you wear 24 to 48 hours. If findings show that, there are medications you can take which help with the heart rate. However, you should see a doctor to find out what is causing it, as there are also other heart conditions which can cause fast heart beat. Good luck

When you breath in blood floods into your lungs and your pulse slows. When you breath out the blood goes into the right side of your heart which pumps out the extra load faster.
So it could be normal.
Sometimes people get sudden very rapid episodes and feel palpitations. This can have lots of causes which include:
Thyroid problem
Salt/ acidity of the blood problem.
An extra electrical pathway in the heart sending the true controlling electrical pulse into a rapid loop.
All can be treated.

I work with doctors that deals with that kind of stuff. It's called A-Fib. You're heart is fluttering back and forth. You need to see your family doctor and get a referral to see a heart doctor. If this goes untreated- You may have a stroke or a heart attack. When a person's heart is fast and irregular- that means you're not getting proper blood flow to your body. It's pretty serious. Good luck

You are not getting a hormonal signal from the pituitary through the thyroid to your heart to beat regularly. You are not getting a stop sign from hormonal peptides to stop the anxiety once you feel anxious.

See http://www.glycostory.com/mannalive and click on the story link and then click on "heart" or "women's issues" to learn what you can do to support your body and get it back into balance.

fast is normal - we all get fast heart beat after exercising....'abnormal' I'm guessing you mean palpitations (when yo can feel you heart beating) slightly more unusual but maynot be anything to worry about. - but if it is becoming more common or any chest pain - go to emergency quickly

Look up supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). Good idea to get it checked by a doctor.
