I have an indoor propane portable grill. Can I use this to cook inside, or does the propane make it unsafe?

Use extreme caution, but the carbon monoxide produced will be slightly less than what you would get from a natural gas stove.

Don't try to heat with it!!!!

I get real upset when I start reading the answers to a question like this. First off for all the people that run screaming Propane! And Carbon Monoxide! here is a News Flash! …… All carbon containing fuels produce Carbon Monoxide as a product of combustion. The more incomplete the combustion the higher the level of CO produced.

In regards to warning labels, here is another News Flash! ……. All heating appliances (Natural gas…. Propane… Kerosene … or Cow Dung) already have federally mandated consumer protection warning labels, and yes if the appliance is not designed for indoors that is included in the warning on the label.

I installed and serviced propane appliances for nearly 20 years and I can assure you that the federal government is not about to outlaw them. Reason you ask???? Because they are no “Less Safe” than any other gas burning appliance.

Now when we are talking about deaths from propane heaters we need to be very clear that it has nothing to do with the propane, and we need to be clear that it is not from properly installed propane burning appliances in a home. It is rather from the ignorance of the user of a portable propane heating unit, someone that has failed to comprehend the warnings that accompany all portable heating equipment.

In reality there are more deaths caused every year, resulting from house fires caused by the improper use of portable electric heaters.

With all this being said, there are very few, if any portable propane grills that are rated for indoor use. The best bet is to refer to the owner’s manual, and if you don’t have it contact the manufacture directly. There are some grilling and hot plate devices that are used in the catering industry that use propane and are rated for indoor use.

It's ESPECIALLY UNSAFE!!! Charcoal AND propane release carbon monoxide gas. The federal government has almost passed a law that will make all propane powered devices have warning labels on them. There have been over 20 deaths this winter from people using propane heaters indoors/confined spaces.

I have never heard of an indoor propane grill, all propane device I have ever seen are not to be used indoors. the reason for this is they produce carbon monixide gas to build up, which can be deadly. I would stick to outside use only, to be safe
