because people in mexico have pride and refused to be dragged down by consumer media culture. and they are a sovereign nation, that pretty much sums it up, sovereignty.

Because majority of Americans are not ready to have a Hispanic President.I think ever since soviet union collapsed and stopped helping Cuba the Latinos have made a unofficial commonwealth that is Anti Gringo you can very well see what happened in Brazil,Venezuela,Bolivia, Nicaragua and almost happened in Mexico too.Hang on to Panama Canal that will be more than enough [Keep the Chinese out]

Um, because we each have spearate governments, people, and laws, and have no reason to merge with each other. Some mexicans would enjoy a higher standrad of living, and soem United Statesians would get a kick out of having their country size almsot doubled, but the two cultures would probably not assimilate very well. Plus, just like the south trying to succed in the civil war, there is no guideline as how it woudl go about happening

It almost happened back in 1840s. Language would be a major problem plus half of the Mexican pop. would move to north to the orginal US. But it would be great to get those Mexican oil fields.
