I started taking birth control for the first time last month. I started it on a sunday but than i stopped taking it a couple days later and got my period again(i was in the hospital due to something unrelated). Now i was suppose to get my period last week and it still hasnt come. Is this normal if you take the pill and than stop, should i contact my doctor or just wait til the end of the week? Please help!!!!

The first was withdrawal bleeding, which happened because you started taking the pills, which are hormones, and then stopped. Your body responded to the absence of the pill through withdrawal bleeding. I would not worry about your period being late yet. Give it a few days, but if you are sexually active and did not use a back-up form of protection then I would probably take a pregnancy test in a couple of days. The first month on the pill is not a reliable method of birth control and if you did not take the pill as prescribed you should definitely use a back-up method. After the first month the pill, if used properly is very effective form of bcp. It does take some time for your body to adjust to the pill. In fact, it may even take some time to find the right type of birth control pill.

It sounds that you are really confuzed and may I say a little scared here.... but try not to worry too much because that really is not going to help you out....

first just in case don't take the pill again..and Go to the OBGYN pronto!!...

depending on the pill some of them stop working as soon as you stop them so if you had intercouse and did not drink your pill...then yes it is possible you got pregnant....

and if no contact or if you continued your pills and you got to that pill that makes your period come (usually they are like different color which are the last ones) and nothing you should still contatct your doctor....
hope I did not confuse you more!
Good luck!

It likely isn't abnormal, depending on what type of birth control you were taking. Is there an urgent reason to contact your doctor? Do you think you might be pregnant? If not, wait a week or so and see what happens. Stress (and being in the hospital can be stressful) can play havoc with periods.

birth control is a hormone. when u first start taking them they can confuse ur body. if u take them long enough then ur period will be regulated according to ur pills. every 5 or so pills in ur pack is a different color. that represents the level of hormones that are in them. then u should have some that are neutral. they are there so during ur period, which is when u will take those pills, u dont get out of the habit of taking them. so if u start taking them, ur body says ok, now in 28 days you will have ur period. but if u quit taking them, then ur body thinks that u r done with ur pack and ready for ur period. ur body is just confused u will be ok, wait a couple weeks then start a new pack and dont forget to take them!!

first off, how long have you been having periods? that may give a clue to a better answer...the lapse in teh birth control threw the body into a fret when you suddenly stopped the OCP's, so it had no choide but to have a period because the body thought it was time...that is why you have 'real' tablets and fake tablets so that the body can have a normal period at the end of your real tablets (the reason that you get fake tablets is so that youcan stay on schedule)
I woudl not worry at this time, but restart your OCP's again with a fresh pack and consider it bad karma

first of all..you really shouldn't start and stop taking it, it messes up your hormones....just start taking it everyday at the same time, it may take a while for the hormones to balance out, but they will regulate eventually...your doctor will tell you the same thing.
