If that was the actual bail then you are correct. If you went to a bail bondsman, then no, you get nothing back even if they do show up for court. If they dont show up for the court date, the bondsman has so many days to find them and get them to the jail before they have to pay the entire bond, in some cases it can be over $20,000, but if they show up, the bondsman got your $500.

Correct, IF you are paying the actual bail and not a bondsman. If you are paying a bondsman, the $500 is his fee for loaning $5,000 to bail your friend, and that you do not get back. That is his (her?) cost of doing business.

Exactly right: the administrative bond fee is non-refundable, but you'll get back all but 10% of the set bond as soon as the bondee makes his court date.

Good luck on that. I would not bail for anyone, If I was 100% sure they would show up. If ou know that won't happen don't bail them out.

yes and if they jump bail you dont get your money back..
