I mean do they give the entire amount to the cause, or do they pocket the money?

I have. You get a charitable tax receipt from the foundation for $50.00, or the resale value if the car can be sold. If the car is junked, the vehicle's metal parts are recycled and the proceeds go to the foundation
It took a long time for me to receive the tax document, but you'll have it in your possession before this year's taxes are due
