I have a dollar bill 2003 which has the serial number and seal missing on the front left only. There is no extra printing on the reverse which isusually common. Any ideas what this is worth?

Take it to a reputable coin and antiquities merchant.

It appears that mistakes like yours sell for about $100, which means that you might get about $50 if you are looking to sell it, but it all depends on 2 important factors:

1. How rare the mistake

2. Condition of your bill

If brand new ... just from the bank it will be worth a lot more than if it had already circulated and is all dogeared and crinkled.

That's called an 'obstructed third printing' either the sheet your note was on got folded and that part of the note was printed on the back of another note, or a piece of paper fell onto your note and covered the area intended for what is now missing. The other response to your question suggesting a possible value of $50 or so is probably accurate, the value depends greatly on condition. Personally, if selling, I'd try a major online auction site. Nice find!

You have an error note that missed a printing or something went wrong. A very reputable dealer is Denly's of Boston and maybe he can help you. denlys@aol.com . The price guides in Bank Note Reporter does not list error notes. You need to see a currency dealer or check with the above.

There is nothing wrong with the dollar bill. Just a mint mistake more than likely. My advice would be to just discard the dollar. Keep it and show your friends or something. I wouldn't try to give it ff as cash, for fear that the sender may think the money is counterfeit.

Hope I could help.
