Hi, I am currently half way through my cycle, and have had a heavy, dark brownish-black discharge for the past 3 days. I am on the pill, and normally my mestruation cycle works like clockwork. However, I am right in the middle of my cycle and have my period? What is wrong with me? Is this common? Especially such dark discharge? I read somewhere that its just the vagina cleaning itself, but i have never had this before. I have had my period for 5 years, and have been on the pill for one year.

Thanks girls!

Its not overly heavy. Not a really offensive smell either. Use only one pad a day. I have missed some tablets :oS but only one... normally, i have to be on sugar pills for 3 days to get my period, so i wasnt sure? Plus normally my period is blood, thin & slimy substance, red in coour. This is black and thick.

My dear did u know that about 9 out of 10 eggs are fertilized but never actually "hatch" into a zygote. when those eggs don't hatch it simply comes down with your cycle that month. Please don't kill yourself. you are fine. You can see an ob-gyn if it will make you feel more comfy

Hi! When I was on the pill the same thing would happen to me. If I didn't take the pill at relatively the same time every day, my period would start mid-cycle and it would usually be more brownish in color. I've been off the pill for several years now but sometimes certain medications I take cause me to get my period at weird times during the month and the discharge is usually brown. It's probably not anything to worry about. Keep an eye on it If yourr cycle becomes regular again within 2 months, you should be fine

the only time I did this while on the pill was when I got pregnant and miscarried before I even knew I was. I called the nurse hotline because I had severe cramps and really heavy flow midway through my cycle she directed me to see my doctor the next morning.

it sounds like old blood that have sloughed off the lining of the uterous. i don't like the sound black though. call the gyne tomorrow and tell them what is going on it could be hormonal some girls have to switch pills after awile. if you have been on them for 5 years mayby you would like to take a break. there are so many birth control pills out there but mayby another form of control like spermacides and condoms. those pills really are not that great for you anyway, and please don't smoke while on them. good luck~

What you are experiencing is called break through bleeding. Did you miss a couple of tablets or take them late? Have you left them in a place where they might have gotten very hot or gotten moist?

If the answer to those questions is no, I would put a call into your gyne.

It is normall. Especially when you are on the pill. The pill can cause all different kinds of harmless abnormalities. Believe me I know, I have been on them for over 6 years now.

Brownish-black is "old blood". Are you bleeding bleeding or just spotting a little? I wouldn't worry too much unless it is a lot or if it continues much longer then I'd call your gyn and see what they think.

To be that dark sounds like old blood. I would see a gynecologist.
