10 months ago had a total hysterectomy. I was 51. My abdomen has really "bloomed". I have gained 25 lbs. i look like a barrel. Have NO energy either. My eating habits haven't changed and no matter what i do, i can't lose weight. My doctor wanted to put me on hrt, but i don't like taking meds and can't afford them. I only take natural things. Any help on how i can lose weight and have more energy?

Not an uncommon reaction. And if you can handle it without hormone replacement, so much the better for you. Even though you don't have much energy at present, it's important to start working out. Join a fitness program, start a walking program, join a master swim program - you need to be with other people at this point, to motivate you and to help you stay with the program. The strange thing is that expending energy helps generate more energy and you'll feel revitalized after you start your fitness program. it will also help you control your weight, but don't punish yourself by going on a strict diet. Just watch what you eat and make sure the treats you give yourself are things like a bowl of grapes, or some cherries, or blueberries. It's easy, when you're feeling down, to head for the carbohydrates, but they are the last thing you need right now.
Are you taking niacin or some other natural product to help you through this change?
Good luck to you, and hang in there. It does get better, and you'll feel right back up to parm.

you should start drinking water, eating healthy and exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. exercising really does give you more energy. Could you be depressed? If so, this could be the result of no energy and weight gain too. You want to visit your doctor to get a blood test done to see if you have any other medical problems leading to the weight gain. good luck!

its all hormonal try some estrovan you can get it at wal-mart my mom swears by it. she could not take the hormones and they really are not recommended anyway because of breast health. try to drink more water, walk some everyday and cut down on carbs your body is just re-adjusting and since the 25 pounds are not supposed to be there anyway it will prob slide right off.
