What was the fashion and fads of the 90's?

I'm doing an school newspaper article on fashion and fad of the 90's only (I don't mean technology and toys). And I want some elaborate info from ppl who know what was the "hot" looks and fads during the 90's, such as the Rachel haircuts, jelly shoes, etc. (I'm only a kid during the 90s, so I couldn't have body piercings or bleached hair).

You could say that the 90's was the decade of minimalist clothing and cotton jersey.

On the runways, designers were moving away from the overly constructed looks from the eighties and moving towards a more minimalist aesthetic. This was when the Calvin Klein/Gucci look really took hold. Colors became solid neutrals and fabrics moved away from stiff wool and polyester blends and towards a softer cotton jersey.

This is also when the first major resurgence of 70's fashion occured. Bell bottoms came back and along with it came Lennon glasses, lovebeads and Birkenstocks.

In middle America, there was a huge influence from Seattle due to the emergence of Alternative rock bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The American teenager was wearing flannel and hiking boots.

The other influence on the high school girl was the California look. Looks from Clueless, 90210, My So-called Life, Felicity and bad Fox tv shows were major fashion inspirations. It was an ugly ten years.

Here are some of the fashion trends of the 90's.
Grunge: ripped jeans, flannel shirts, short sleeved t-shirts over long sleeved thermal shirts, combat boots.
School girl: short pleated skirt, cropped sweater, knee high socks, Doc Marten's.
The business woman: pleated loose pants, long blazer, over sized silky shirt, sometimes a tie.
90210: spaghetti strap babydoll dress, preferably short, over a white tshirt.
