Agents go to the theater to look for prospective clients. You must perform in as many shows as you can, in order to be seen by agents. If they like your work, they will contact you.

Unless you have a strong resume with a lot of acting, especially Broadway and regional theater credits, it will be hard to get signed by a top agency. If you have a friend signed to a top agency, ask him or her, to give you a referral to his/her agent.

If you are a child actor you may be better off with a Talent Manager and not a Talent Agent. Mangers help in the process of finding the "right" Talent Agent for the actor, as well as, overseeing prospective projects for the actor.

All Talent Agents must be a member of:

If you have a problem with a Talent Agency, contact the Department of State, they regulate the Talent Agency industry.

Good luck.
