Dont know if this is a trademarkable term...obviously has several different meanings, uses, etc.

Sweet 16 is so commonplace that it doesn't matter if it is trademarked. Much like the terms Xerox, Crescent, and Kleenex, sweet 16 is publicly used. That is a possible outcome of being "too successful".

I am not sure but I am pretty sure there is a salon that has that as their trademark

Only as a movie title. In any other context it's a common phrase.
