I'am a waitress and today at work one the employees brought her daughter to work with her. The little girl had her hand in my tip jar(I only keep coins in it-paper money in my pocket)and I told her to get out of it. The little girl must have told her mother what I said because her mother(the cook)said to me, "she doesn't want your damn money." Snatched her purse up cussed me out and said that she quit and walked out! I feel that I have every right to tell people to say out of my tip jar unless they are putting money into it. It is the same as going in my wallet-I feel like. What do you think?

I think that woman totally blew it out of proportion. She actually quit?? You were definitely right she was the one that was wrong. Her stinkin brat should have kept her hands away from your tip jar! That kid should have known better! Who pissed in her cheerios this morning?

Its a shame!!! That is what I call lack of discipline!! The mother should have had a talk with her daughter about how to behave at her place of work. Dont worry, hon. At least now you know, when you have your own kids and need to bring them to work with you. Take that experience and learn about some of the things you will instill in your offspring. She probably had other major issues and stresses and that is why she brought her kid to work and now she has a good reason to quit and stay home to take care of her mannerless kid.!!

I think you are right. It's good that you stuck up for yourself and said what you thought. The child needs to learn to stay out of other peoples things. If something doesn't belong to her then shouldn't have touch it. I'm surprised that the mother didn't tell her daughter herself.

You had a right to tell her to stay out of your tip jar. Some parents can't accept that their child isn't perfect.

You go girl!! All I can say is that if more parents were "responsible parents" and taught their kids to show respect for other peoples property, NO ONNE would have to correct them...where did respect go anyways? In the mean time, protect what belongs to you and don't ever doubt your gut feeling!!

first of all the child should have never been on the job most employees are very strick about this you did nothing wrong it just gose to show that some parents have forgotten how to teach their children a little home training...........if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything

I don't see a problem with what you did...From what you have said here, I'd say their is something else going on with the cook and this was just the trigger. DOn't lose any sleep over it. Stealing is stealing, regardless of who is doing it.

Wrong? No. Were you pretty snappy with the kid, or not? Kids do have a tendency to mess with things that they shouldn't, and they need correction. Then again, I don't really feel the workplace is where kids need to be either...

No. They thought their welfare check wasn't high enough so they went into the tip jar.
