hey i have a 512mb ddr pc2100 and i wanna upgrade to a 1gb
but i keep finding 1gb ddr pc2700 or pc3200
will it still work or no

Last answers are wrong, yes it will work, it may clock it down to PC2100, but if you put the stick in, it WILL work.

It really depends on the motherboard. You really should check your systems documentation to see what size chips your system can handle and whether or not 2700 or 3200 chips will be recognized by your system.

Go to Crucial.com, they have a program to check and see what memory you can use, in your motherboard.
