I don't think the rape of a child should be shown in a movie.

Every pedophile in town will be at the theater just for that scene.

The director claims he did it "tastefully." How can you "tastefully" show a baby being raped?

There are certain things better explained in dialog. Nobody needs to watch that.

I disagree.

Obviously child rape is a disturbing thing to even think about, but it's an unfortunate reality in our society. I don't think that Dakota Fanning is going to be harmed because she understands that it's just ACTING. 13 year olds understand what rape is.

If anything, I think most people disagree with her doing this moreso because they don't want to be presented with an accurate representation of some of the horrible realities in our world.

well, no one complain when there was a scene with a young boy years ago being raped along with his sister and mother in the Prince of Tides . Nick Nolte played the grown men version and they showed a flashback...as I recall everyone was riveted with emotion and considered it a great movie..

I think Dakota is mature and bright beyond her years and can handle the simulated scene; however, that comment by jaredkristenandjustins above ...does show a potential danger of doing this show that is quite chilling.

I don't think any young kid should ever play that kind of role, she is only 13 and even though she sees more and knows more than most kids her age, that isn't something she should be subject to.No matter how mature she acts she still is a child.and who's to say some sicko won't try to do it to her for real so she will know how it is.rape is a very serious issue and shouldn't be taken so lightly by the movie industry.nor by the parents of these Child actors.

i do no longer understand why she replaced into in one in each and every of those action picture, yet i think of it extremely is poor. I already theory it replaced into undesirable to have baby actors besides much less in something as unwell and poor sounding as this action picture. What precisely could it do to the psyche of a 12 365 days old to additionally be thinking approximately such issues. That appears like baby abuse to me.

Yes she is. If you know anything about acting everyone would agree. Acting is putting yourself all feelings and experiences out there into your part to make it believable. This will scar her and probably stay with her a long time.

agree. personally I think that rape should be banned from all media outlets altogether. you dont see child molesters on TV doing that do you? I put that sickness in the same category. It needs to be eliminated from all forms of media.

It's happening all the time in this world and I have mixed feelings but I am sure her parents would not let her do the film if they didn't think she could do it!

Disagree in the sense that its not your call. She is a mature actress in a professional business. I am sure what you see on the screen is more dramatic than the actual acting of the scene
