I loved that show but was never sure what there relationship was?

I believe Jed's departed wife was Granny's daughter. Elie May was Jed and his departed wife's, daughter . Jethro was a nephew, He was Aunt Pearl's son. Aunt Pearl and Granny had domestic envy competition and didn't like each other. I also love the show. I watch all the old reruns, to me that is one of the great sitcoms from the sixties.

Granny was Jed's mother-in-law. His wife passed away and Granny helped him raise Ellie Mae.
