I seem to have a problem with the charging circuit of my dell. Dell support tells me I need to purchase a new motherboard. Is it at all possible to charge a dell battery without the computer, because the computer will work when the battery is charged, it just won't work with the plug, and the plug won't charge the battery

You could find a working Dell Inspiron 600m laptop that will charge it.

Run off to STAPLES and look for a new laptop. (I recommend Toshiba, but if you are in a tight budget, consider the Lenovo that they sell for about $500. I'm sorry that your old DELL died. To get your files, you want to REMOVE the hard drive from the old DELL, then mount it inside a USB Hard Drive Enclosure. You see, then your old computer's hard drive will become an EXTERNAL hard drive, and you will have acceess to all of your files.

Get this enclosure from NewEgg.com
MASSCOOL UE211 Aluminum alloy 2.5" USB2.0 (type A) External Enclosure $10.99
