First: add "3" to both sides > when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign - addition goes with subtraction, etc.).....
5x - 3 + 3 = - 27 + 3
5x = - 24
Sec: isolate "x" on one side > divide both terms by "5".....
(5x)/5 = - 24/5
x = -24/5
P.S. You don't need the solution in decimal form, unless your teacher asks you to do so.

i think the answer is x=-4.8 or x=-24/5 because you bring the 3 over and do -27+3 which is -24 then divide that by 5. hope it works!
