TEXAS~ we have it ALL~

Definitely there is no perfect place. Every place in the US has its own features. Even California alone has different cities which is different from each other.
I am a Filipino American and had stayed all my life in the Philippines. I had been to Hongkong, California and Nevada.
San Francisco, San Diego, Nevada, LA and even Hongkong might be the best cities in the world but definitely its beauty is definitely superficial. Why? Since i dont have my family in these areas.
When I was in these places, I missed the Philippines terribly. I spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in San Francisco but I was crying.
Philippines isnt a perfect country. However, the nice thing about the Philippines that most tourist love is the sun. The Europeans love the weather here. There are also many Americans, Asians and other nationalities who stay here and just go to their native land once a year.
You can live here even though you dont have a car. Transportation is accessible in most places. There are jeepneys, tricycles, buses, MRT and LRT ( light train transits).
Food, rentals, schooling are more cheaper here. The problem is that workers get paid lesser.
Foreigners study here. Most of our people value education a lot. Mostly are college graduates.

This question is difficult if not impossible to answer for two main reasons:

1) Everybody has different tastes
2) Nobody has lived "everywhere" in order to make a comparison

Basically anyone who has lived in the same place all of their lives isn't even qualified to make a statement here because they have no basis for comparison.

I've lived in 7 countries on 5 continents and travelled extensively to dozens of others. I can make a pretty qualified statement at least for people with my tastes.

I enjoy a bit of chaos and not too much law and order, yet being in a safe environment. I like laid back people, warm weather, beaches, sea, fishing, diving, and dinking mass quantities of beer while operating fast boats. The best place for me to live is the Philippines where I can have all of this and live in peace as long as I don't bother anyone.

I couldn't live this lifestyle in Europe because its too expensive and cold. Couldn't do it in the USA because they are prudes with their silly driving and alcohol laws (sorry, but beer drinking goes with boating). Couldn't do it in Africa or South America because I'd probably get robbed.

Other people will prefer to have law & order and don't mind putting up with police all of the place regulating people's lives, other people don't like beaches, others like people to always be on time and follow rules. People like that shouldn't live here.

Upstate New York, Adirondack Mountains!!
We experience all four seasons....green spring, with lots of blossoms, hot humid summers...breath-taking foliage in the fall, and
snowfall in the winter.
It gets cold enough in the winter to ensure that the bugs and critters stay small. There aren't many poisonous snakes, spiders, etc, like you hear of in warmer climates.
We don't get F-5 tornadoes (or F-4's or 3's), or hurricanes, and rarely have a blizzard. We don't have strong earthquakes. For the most part, other than the occasional summer thunderstorm, snow is the most extreme weather that we get.
The crime rate is low...there are less people, and therefore, less crime.
The scenery is beautiful. We have lots of lakes, mountains, valleys.
I can drive to a city (Albany, Saratoga, Lake George) in an hour, or Boston or NYC in three hours, or fly to Florida in three hours.
A lot of reasons to think that Adirondack Park is the best!!

Actually, as much I sometimes complain, the metro DC area is great! There is SO much to do here and much of it is free. Also we are lucky to not experience 'natural disasters' - no mud slides, flooding, mega hurricanes, tornadoes, severe winters and the like. Being a bit south of the Mason Dixon line we have moderate weather, with the exception of high humidity in the summer.

Cost of living is high; but then salaries here are WAAY up!

It's all about a matter of taste, which varies from one person to another. The best place is one where you will feel happy, comfortable, in security, and have peace of mind to enjoy life.

South Africa, most definitely...we have the most incredible weather, an amazing diversity of people, and first class (and world) services and infrastructure. We are a proud people, with many languages unique to us, and more plant species on table mountain alone than the whole of the U.K.

We are a great nation, and I love it here
Proudly South African til the end!
