I tried to dye two things black. They were already black but faded. It didnt work. Is there a special brand that works? These are things not easily replaced.

Get "RIT" dye and use white distilled vinegar with it, follow directions on pkg. I think it's one cup per batch.
This sets the pigment so it wont wash away when you rinse the fabric.

Try fixing the dye after the dye job. Over the counter dyes will fade immediately afterward.

You need to "lock in" the dye.
