am going to try and make this breif. first of all i just finished my first semister in high school but still my parents still treat me like a baby. for God sack am 15! Am gonna turn 16 in 4 months but they still wonth let me do anything not even try out for sports am despert can someone give me a tip ore something that will convence my parents that am old enough to hangout with my friends without them following me!!!!!!!

OMG I have the same problem!!!! no boys, no late nights, bring your phone, pick up when i call, dont talk to stangers!!! grrr thats so annoyin huh?! look sit them and explain to them your 15 and you really need to go places alone with out them tell ur parents its a lil embrassing to bring your parents all the places with your friends and stuff. tell them ur not embrassed of them u just need some alone time with ur friends when your done and they agree tell them u love them


P.S. maybe they just really love u and dont want u to get kidnapped.....

I guess that I would be more likely to give my kids more independence if they proved that they were more responsible. What if you started doing more chores around the house, and started offering to do things without being asked, instead of waiting to be asked?
I have a twelve year old that I think is more responsible than most 15 year olds, and I had a 16yo that I thought was less responsible than some 8 year olds I've met!

i know what you mean...my parents were like that also its my junior year now and im 16...i begged and begged to just at least let me try out for a sport....i asked everyday and it was always no and no...until they finally said yes...now i have to start beggin to go out with my friends i have the same problem they always have to be there when im wiht my friends but little by little they let me go out .....just tell them how you about it and try to make them understand if they still dont tell them you'll do something for them thats what i do at first it didnt work but now it kinda does.

if you join sports in high school the extracirrucular activity will look amazing on your high school transcript for college. you can even have your counselor call home and tell your parents that. im almost 19 and in college and my parents up until i got into college treated me like a baby.

Damn.. that is a tough situation... especially since they do have full parental rights... but, maybe, gut-wrenching as it is - face them and tell them how you really feel. Not pleasant, but better tha faking it!

show them that you're trustworthy. do something w/out being asked to do it.
