Yes, they are- you are not imagining it. This is called vanity sizing and basically manufacturers are making clothes bigger because, well- we are getting bigger too. So today's size 6 twenty years ago was probably a size 2. I'm sure you've heard people say about Marilyn Monroe that she was a curvy size 12. That's correct, except back in those days a size 12 would be like todays 6 or 8.

There is no "Standard" size scale, so it's like you never know what size to try on. It can vary so much from brand to brand. I have a size 10 skirt that is slightly loose, and size 13 jean shorts that are tight. It drives me crazy! At least there are a couple places I shop where I know an 11 or 12 will usually fit okay.

Yes, companies are trying to offset the obesity crisis in America by making the clothing sizes bigger. In this way, someone who may wear a size 12 can buy a size 8 and feel better about themselves. Ha ha, actually i don't know but i think its a good guess!

Yes, it is known as vanity sizing. A true size 1-2 measurements should be 32-24-34, but I have seen some shops selling size 00 with those exact measurements!

I think that fewer designers are paying attention to quality. I found a brand of jeans that I really like, so I bought three pair in different washes, but all in the same size. Each one fits me differently: one is a bit snug, but good for going out, one fits perfectly, and the other one keeps falling down unless I belt it. Same style, same size, just different wash. Very wierd. Like they say on "What Not To Wear": try it on and buy what fits. Screw the number.

Yes, a couple years ago I was wearing size 3's. Now I can't even fit into size 0's.

Depends on what stores your in. American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Hollister tend to make their clothes a size bigger. less expensive stores like Fashion Q and Wet Seal and Charlotte Rusee tend to make clothes smaller. Especially Steve and barry's

It all depends on who makes them! You can go to any store and try on five of the same size pants that you usually wear.. one might fit you and one might be too big or too small!

they are trying to go with the trend that is popular now, where it is cool to actually cover up a bit more, rather than letting so much skin show. Does that help answer your question?
