Would you rather be given a present or have someone take you to a concert, out for a picnic, or to the beach, etc.

I have been clearing out the attic and basement of old crap for months; more gifts I do not need! So a shared experience would be much better.
Gifts are also harder to get for adults than kids; adults are far more particular about their stuff! And we already have most of the stuff we really want because we bought it.
My dad is worse than I am about this; he has already told everyone that he does not want any gifts that cannot be eaten or used up in a few months. So he gets a lot of candy and fruit preserves (and is very happy with them!).
