Hi. I have a urine infection at least twice a year. When I have sex, it happens too if I have not been with my partner for a while, as he sometimes has to go away for his work. What can I do? If I am rundown, I get it too....I would like some professional advice if possible but anyone who has had this and found a solution, please help. Thank you everybody

Sex is only the cause if I have not been active for a long time.
I already know about cranberry juice, it has not effect on me whatsover. But I will try the pills thank you.
Taking antibiotics on a regular basis is highly dangerous, one does not take them as a preventive cure! How can you give such a dangerous advice!

also, it is very important that you go pee after sex. your immune system seems a bit down. cut out all sugar (use stevia if you need a sugar fix), and cut way back on refined wheat products. Also consider taking turmeric, cinnamon and ginger capsules.

Make sure you take the time to urinate both before and after intercourse. Even if you are using something to masterbate with. What happens is that the motion of intercourse forces bacteria into your urethra causing an infection. But if you urinate before it gives it pretty much nowhere to go and by urinating afterwords it cleans everything out. Also, drinking cranberry juice helps to prevent it and helps get rid of an existing infection. Cranberries have properties in them that clean out urinary tracts. If you do not like cranberry juice a good alternative is Cranberry pills. You can find them in the vitamin section of drug stores and grocery stores. Some people are also prone to these infections like myself and I started taking a cranberry pill each day and I have not had an infection in 4 years and I was having them 3 to 4 times a year. Also, when you have an infection drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. When i have an infection I take 2 cranberry pills twice a day and it knocks it right out. I hope this helps.

Sounds as though you have cystitis. either buy or make Lemon Barley Water which is a great old fashioned cure for the honeymoon complaint as it is commonly known as!
Also your partner needs to be treated too as he is more than likely re-infecting you each time, and the two of you may need a course of antibiotics to clear the cystitis.
Cranberry juice is good but not the one that you buy in the carton as it contains too much sugar. Try getting 'stevia' if you have a craving for sugar.
I have suffered from cystitis over the years and my sister did too and she let hers go on for too long and ended up having to have her bladder inflated with a balloon as the infection was 24/7.
I found the Lemon Barley Water to be the most successful as I did not want to be taking antibiotics all the time.
Add some bread soda to your bath as well and always wear cotton underwear and do NOT use highly perfumed soaps or shower gels. Do not add antiseptics (ie. Dettol) to your bathwater as this kills not only germs but bacteria which are friendly and which you need,
Build yourself up with a good course of multi vitamins...ask your pharamcist for advice.
Good luck and I hope this small piece of advice helps you as I know only too well how uncomfortable Cystitis is, also it is very painful too!

hi - as its only after sex that you get these infections, then #1 is to always ALWAYS go for a wee after, it flushes out your bits 'n' pieces. But also, try not to have too much deep penetration as this could be bruising your insides. This is something I learnt from the doc when I had to keep going back for repeated bladder infections. Oh, also drink lots of water all the time, as this will keep you 'flushed'. Please let me know if I can be of any more help, I suffered from cystitis CONSTANTLY for about 2 years, then learnt a few things from my doc and *touch wood* its been 6 years since my last attack! Stay well xx

HI THERE BAMBINA,
the most important thing to do after you have sex is go into the bathroom and force yourself to pee.
a lot of women do not know that this is a very important thing to do.
if you force yourself to pee then it will push out any germs you may have in the urethra. also drink alot of water and most importantly drink cranberry juice.
i am the Queen of urinary tract infections so i have had much experience with this problem.
it will also help if you and your partner are clean down there before sex. take a fun shower together and make sure you are very clean and him, too.
i think if you take my advice you will be UTI free before you know it.===i was the one who was getting 6 UTI's per year. and now?
nothing

If having sex seems to cause your infections, your doctor may suggest that you take a single antibiotic pill after you have sex to prevent urinary tract infections.
