Um, I have a little mustache, and its a little embarassing, so I have tried waxing and it hurts too much, and bleaching, which doesn't help much either. Like, 30 minutes ago, I used this prouduct thats supposed to make th ehair fall out. I did the test and everything, putting it on my elbow so I know if I am allergic to it or not----and I'm not. But I just tried it, and it hurts like hell, stinging, and the area is all rediish-pinkish, and sorta puffy. Is this supposed to happen?!

Thanks,
----------------Lillie

yes waxing hurts a little, but it is a little less hurtful than electrolysis and if done by someone who is a professional,,over the counter stuff works ok,like Nair,,but does have harsh chemical which differ on the elbow, than the face,as the skin around the upper lip area is sensitive.. Use a little ice after waxing,it will aid the puffy, plus if it is on the skin too long the bleaching stuff it can sting/burn the skin... Do not do bleaching with a sunburn,or before going out in the sun, yes it will be red a little..use a cold towel and ice

you probably did in fact have an allergic reaction-good thing you tested it first, because the upper lip is much more sensitive.
To answer the mustache dilemna, I would suggest just going ahead and getting the wax. Sure it hurts, but you won't have to do it that often. Go to a salon, or just use tea tree oil after, and it will soothe the skin.
I have a friend that uses Nair on her face. She wonders why she breaks out. :)

If you used a product like Nair, you should make sure that it is FACIAL nair because the skin on your face is much more sensitive than the skin on your elbow. Your not supposed to have any type of reaction to the cream when used correctly. Firstly you should look on the bottle and make sure that you don't exceed the maximum application time. If you did everything correctly and you still get outbreaks you should either get a cream for sensitive skin or a hypo-allergenic one. If all fails, you should either try a different brand or different hair removing techniques. A simple cheap alternative to using hair removal creams is using a mens facial razor. With shaving cream of course!

what's the product? even if you did test it in your elbow, your face skin is different from your elbow. so you might have an allergic reaction. don't use it. wash your face with water, no soap. just in case it worsens. then leave it alone. don't cover it up or anything.
