I have just bought a Mazda 121 GLX 1.3 ltr 1998 3 door ( just like a fiesta apparently), which badly needs a power steering fluid top up. Which power steering fluid should I get and is Halfords the best place to get it?

I use the Walmart brand but any discount store brand is good and will save you money. Whatever do NOT use transmission fluid. It has different charactistics and could cause seals to leak.

Every car is different. Some are, some aren't. Read the manual. I had a vehicle that used power steering fluid which was clear and thin. My minivan uses transmission fluid and says so in the manual. If no manual, look it up on line. You never told us what vehicle you have.

Yes, seek the owners manual, and NEVER use transmission fluid as is does not have the correct lubrications for your pump and will dry out the seals. Common mistake.

Refer to your owners manual, under maintenance (fluid capacities). Oh, you don't have a owners manual, call a dealership. That kind of advice I think is still free.

It should tell you in the owners manual. If not, just get the cheap stuff.
