It is still 4 months away but I'm not sure when the proper time to ask a girl to prom is to allow all the preperation and planning. Should I ask soon, or wait till for a couple months. She's expressed interest by mentioning that shes not sure if she'll find anyone to go with and we're friends so I think she'll say yes.

Ask her as soon as you feel comfortable!
Four months isn't that long of a time period, so now would be just fine to ask. Definitely ask sooner rather than later, just to make sure that she has enough time to find a dress and shoes, set up a hair appointment and whatnot. It'll also mean that you won't have to absolutely agonize whether or not someone will snatch her up first. If you're sure she'll say yes, why not ask her right away? For one, she'll be flattered, two - she won't have to worry about finding a date anymore, three - she'll have plenty of time to find the perfect dress.

The time is right now!!! I mean if she's not sure she'll find anyone then you should be the one to come and be with her! just go for it mayne good lucc if she says no then at least you'll know instead of in 10 years wondering "wonder what she would have said?" GOOD LUCC

since you both see each other as friends or as i would say you arre in the friend barrier maybe this soon is not quite the right time to ask i would say wait a few months but in that time period it is best you start to show her that you have a more than a friend interest in her

Ask her when people start talking about it. You don't want to ask her too soon because then something might happen and you'll end up going with some girl you don't like anymore

The sooner the better. If she says yes, she will need time to get a gown. If she says no, you will have time to find another date.

The more inventive way you can think of to ask her, the earlier you can do it. Like say it in a poem, or write it on a cake.

I think officially you want to wait for 6 weeks prior, but if you think she will get ask by someone else, sorta tell her you want to take her, then ask her officially 6 weeks before.

hhmm..probably at least a month before the prom. but, you will know when its the right time ( i think) anyways..good luck and i hope she says yes!
