How many times have you heard some idiot say, "If I can make it anyone can"? ( I said it, how very clever-duh!) What they are really saying is that what they did was simple, therefore if you cant be successful like them in business, you must be really stupid because its so easy. Its a way of trying to make out that the reason why everyone else isnt "successful" is because they are stupid or lazy or just dont care, they must be, its so easy anyone can do it. If anyone can do it then it means everyone can do it. What these morons forget is that what allowed them to make all that money was all the people that worked for them for peanuts. So if "anyone can make it" then how is everyone going to make, whats the plan, who will work the sweatshops to produce the goods that these "geniuses" sold to make their fortune, take out the garbage, do all the work for less pay than the "successful" person?

It could also mean what I say couldnt it, so essentially both are correct depending on who says it and what their motivation is. You chose to believe your version over mine but without any evidence, which shows a bias to prefer one version over the other, which is precisely my point, that people will believe what they want to believe. Consciously they may believe this, however what subconsciously motivates them is whats important and where the truth lies.

The point is, how do you tell the difference? You have to dig a little deeper to tell what is the truth and what is a lie. Most people will believe they are being "motivational" however subconsiously its a whole different ballgame

I dont take it as an insult, the point is, thats its a backward way of skiting. "Look at me, I can so this, and look how easy it was, shows you how much better I am than all of you if you cant do something this simple, its so easy an idiot could do, I must be living on the planet of the apes, so I am the best".

I think you may be overly sensitive about that saying. It is meant more as motivational rather than an insult. A successful person who says this is attempting to be humble. He is saying, look at me, I have no brains, no talent, but somehow I am successful. And he also is saying, look at you, you also have no talent, so you can also be a success like me. I wouldn't exactly take this as a direct insult.

I agree with your additional comments, it does depends on the person saying it and their motivation. And it is a very strange and backwards way to say it. But I still think that unless that person is some mind manipulating and controlling freak, it would be easier to just say "you are stupid." My opinion here is a result of my experience with my ex, who was overly sensitive about 99% of the comments she received. I for one, give the benefit of the doubt to the person unless I have a good reason not to. It's the only way to ignore the rubbish and find some peace.
