i suppose you've been visiting a few 'dodgy' sites. download crap cleaner. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
your better off using this program as it deletes everything. your browsing history is not fully deleted even if you erase it from the internet explorer. your system still stores the browsing history in log files. crap cleaner deletes everything including the log files.

To totally delete your browsing history?

Take the hard drive out of your computer and put it in the microwave on full power for a few minutes. Best do it outside as it will destroy the drive and the microwave. It's the only method that (so far) it has been shown that data is irretrievable.

Of course if you want a less destructive method - just go to Tools -> Options in your browser and "Delete Browsing History" and "Delete Cookies".

Are you using internet explorer? The steps are very simple:

Start Internet Explorer click Tools in the main toolbar, then select Internet Options and check the General tab. You'll see where you can control your home page, temporary Internet files, and history. Go to the Temporary Internet files area and click the (1) Delete Files button. This should clear the Web pages from your disk and free up that space. Now go to the History area and click the (2) Clear History button. If you do a lot of surfing, you can reduce the "Days to keep pages in history" entry. Click Apply, then click OK to save your changes.

Security Tip: If you set "Days to keep pages in history" to "0", IE does *not* store any information in the History list (but you still need to clean the cache !).

Then delete history, cookies and browsing history.
then everything will be deleted.

Most of those methods still have one drawback.....that is the fact the the deleted files from the HISTORY folder and TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES folder are not erased securely, only the index information recording their physical location on your hard drive are deleted. You need to run some form of disk eraser to securely remove the traces of the unused files.

These work by overwriting 1's or 0's several times over the same spot, making it unrecoverable, but will preserve your current data.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.getpchealthboost.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Yes for Firefox empty cache, delete cookies history &c(ctrl-shift-delete) AND look in the cookies-exceptions file for any cookie rules.
IE is a bit more tricky as there are also some hidden "index.dat" files that can self recreate on reboot, and possibly some registry entries. You probably need a specialist utility.

well, I suppose it would depend on what browser you use, but in Safari you can delete browsing history by going under the "History" menu and selecting "Clear History" down at the bottom. I would check the preferences window in your browser of choice if you don't use Safari.

no, unless you know computer forensics and can go into all the registries/files and know what to delete. How do you think all these people who think they deleted stuff get caught by police? It's still there unless you practically wipe out the entire board
