If the scratches are deep you may have to take it to a glass shop to fix...crest toothpaste or jewelers rouge (polishing cream) is also an option...but if you are short of cash and pressed for time to get this looking presentable... an Automotive Car Wax..such as Turtle wax or a paste wax in the can is what you need to fill the scratches.
Clean the table good with Windex or glass cleaner...scrub wax into the scratch filling it...wipe a thin layer over the rest of area of the top for even look...let the wax hazy over..and buff. You may have to do it several times to fill the scratch completely..once it is filled and buffed out...you shouldn't be able to notice where it was. This also works on scratched storm door panels of Plexiglas's...I got this tip from my local glass shop and it has never failed yet.

If they are light scratches, use Crest toothpaste and a soft cloth. If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail, you could try a scratch removal system. I do not like the results of such systems. Ask a local glass shop how much a new top will cost if it is really bad.

You can use an epoxy to fix the scratches. This is a similar process that glass repair shops use to fix windshields. You can buy it at Home Depot or other major hardware stores.
