Because they are perceived as being more understanding than men (and remember, "that which is perceived to be real is real in its consequences").

To women, female psychologists seem non-threatening becauses they're not men; to men, female psychologists seem non-threatening because they're women. So when you have a psychologist that happens to be a woman, you have the best of both worlds :)

Are You suggesting that Men are not good psychologists? Perhaps it is Your perception of attention to detail or attentiveness that has molded Your views on the subject. Remember that for each interpersonal interaction there is a residual effect that causes subtle changes to Our outlook towards others.

i would think because women tend to be intuitive and empathetic and tend to be good listeners.
