given
((3x + 4) / 5) - 6 = -1
solve for x
(3x + 4)/5 = 6 - 1
(3x + 4)/5 = 5
3x + 4 = 5 * 5
3x + 4 = 25
3x = 25 - 4
3x = 21
x = 21/3
x = 7
so the answer is 7
check
3 times 7 = 21
21 plus 4 = 25
25 divided by 5 = 5
5 minus 6 = -1

Im assuming your doing beginning algerbra or prealgerbra but because you dont know the "number" it will become "x." Multiply by three and you have "3x." The rest of the equation would be (3x + 4)/5 - 6 = -1. Add 6 to both sides to cancel our the 6 on one side and move it to the other to make it equal 7, multiply by 5 to cancel out the 5's and now the equation will look like this after multiplying 5 (5 x 7 = 35) to both sides: 3x - 4 = -35. add 4 to cancel out the four and make the 35 become 39, and divide by three to get the end result of 13 to cancel out the three.
The final answer is 13, but you can check this by plugging it in where the "x" is.

(3x+4)/5-6=-1 add 6 to each side
(3x+4)/5=5 multiply both sides by 5
3x+4=25 subtract 4 from each side
3x=21 divide both sides by 3
x=7

if I'm understanding this right, and you just want to go from left to right, this is what it would be.
