Everyone always askes should gay men and women legally be able to get married in the united states. Well, what have we done to help matters. Most of us (myself included) just sit back and complain how we would like greener fields to roam around in but do any of us acually stand up for whats right?
I know there has been some gay protests in the past but why can't we ALL get up and fight!
Lets look at the past, Black people stood up for there rights, they won!
Women stood up for there rights, they won....
We are no different. We are human!
LETS STAND TOGETHER AND FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS!
would you fight for your rights?
or just sit back and hope one day they happen!

so we goto Canada and get married...
that means what, we still can't buy a car together.
we still can't put the house in both of our names.
we still can't do our taxes as being married.
going to canada or any state that lets you wed. until congress says yes... Gay marriage is legal.....
Simple as that! We have to stand up!

There are only two ways of getting the same rights as others; changing the minds of politicians and changing the minds of voters.
To change the minds of politicians, write to your representatives concerning any piece of legislation that effects gay rights.
To change the minds of voters, write letters to the editor of local newspapers concerning gay rights, write comments on political blogs concerning gay rights, and you can even answer questions here that show factual differences in the rights that many take for granted and gay people do not have. You can take part in gay pride celebrations, and demonstrations for gay supportive legislation or against gay discriminatory legislation. Also, do not hide who you are to other people; most people who are against gay rights do not know a gay person and by being open you can change minds.

While I agree with you that "the movement" needs to get more hands-on again, I'd caution you from making such statements as "Black people and women have won". Things STILL aren't right on either of those fronts. They did make major advances, yes, and that is exemplary, but neither of those movements are over.

I agree that most, including me, do nothing. I am just hoping that one day that gay marriage will be legal. For that matter, even nationwide domestic partnership clauses for workplaces would be a great step.
I am a follower. I will whole-heartedly admit that. I will take my rewards for when someone else fights for them. Is it a great position to take? Of course not. I just have never been one for confrontation.
I do have one thing more important that gay marriage to me. Before I worry about marriage, I need to find a date that could turn into a relationship.
Any takers?? LOL

I think the hate crimes of this issue is far more dangerous... I mean I admit there's also the KKK around but it's hard to push with this issue.. considering for myself, regardless if my environment is LGBT friendly... many people still don't want to talk about it....
But you're really right. We should have a riot.. like they did back in the 60S...70S... 80S... it should at least make history right? =)

some of us do stand up for our rights. I am Canadian but that doesn't mean I still don't fight every day.

Well thank God one of your generation stood up for yourselves!
Read about Cleve Jones, Leonard Matlovich, Harvey Milk, and other trailblazers & martyrs in the movement and please emulate them. Listen to Pink's anthem "18-Wheeler"; it's mainly about women's rights but it could stand for ours too!

Why don't you guys crack open a cold one and shut the hell up! Here in Canada all of our cities have jumped on that stupid Gay Pride parade band wagon, and frankly I'm tired of you people and your whining. Like it or not, marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN, genetically, not socially, so why not step back and think about how far you've come? Mark my words: one day society will have had enough of political correctness, and when that day comes, vocal minorities such as yours will have a much harder time of things in the face of MAJORITY rules!
