Well, the right wing Christian fundies not only perverted the Republican Party but they perverted the name and life of Christ.

So many Americans are completely ignorant of American history. This may be a shock to some, but America was founded as a CHRISTIAN nation! The pilgrims who came here came in the interest of having a Christian society. One of Christopher Columbus' main reasons for coming to America was to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. I wonder if the person who asked this question is a born-again Christian at all.
The way I see it, the Republican party has been perverted by "moderateism." God help us in 2008! Go Sam Brownback!

No. The problem in the Republican party is the RINO's like Collins, Snow, Hagel, Warner, McCain, etc.

Not all Republicans are true conservatives. That is the problem. We have not had a majority of either house filled with conservatives.

I looked over how my former congressman Nancy Johnson lost in the recent election. The answer is simple: she lost 44% of the votes she got in 2004 and her opponent only picked up about 10%. She lost in traditional Republican districts that has had a majority of Republicans for a few decades.

The base walked on the party because the Republicans in office did not act like Republicans.

In trying to strongarm its fundamentalist values upon the rest of America through revising the Constitution and stripping rights away from certain groups. It's made an otherwise respectable party into a kookfest of hate and big $$. Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would be horrified to see what they've done to the GOP in the last 20 years.

That religion & state crap may fly in the Middle East, but here we have the Bill of Rights.

Yes. But it's more like radical fundamentalists Christians/Evangelicals have turned the GOP into a cult rather than a political party.

why is there so much hate for anyone who says they are a Christian...i have been a Christian for most of my life...and all i see lately is hate and bigotry...what have i done to anyone person to be such categorized as a fundamentalist...at least Christians aren't plowing planes into building and committing homicide bombings...and at least Christians stand up to fundamental Christians...unlike in Islam...so take your hate somewhere else...it gets us nowhere and its getting old...

I think most honorable Republicans distance themselves from them.
Fanatics never promote any decent or reasonable debate.
Sadly, they exist far-right and far-left.
