Circumcision is a form of genital mutilation, the removal of the foreskin of the penis. The skin that is removed is not "extra." It is important to sexual pleasure, although men do manage to have sex without it. But the foreskin protects the glans (head of penis), keeping it silky and sensitive and also includes many pleasure receptors. Most women (70% in one survey) prefer an intact penis.
Jews circumcise their sons in a religious ritual called a bris at the age of 8 days - NOT at 13 years! Muslims often circumcise boys at puberty. Christians are told in the Bible that it is not necessary.
Non-religious circumcisions became popular in the United States in the Victorian era, when sex was considered dirty and any way to reduce sexual pleasure was thought beneficial. The myth persists that the foreskin is dirty, but that is simply not true. It is dirty if it is never washed, as is any other body part, but keeping it clean is easy. About half of newborn boys in the US are still mutilated as newborns, but the percentage is dropping. It is rare (under 5%) in most of Europe, Latin America, and non-Muslim parts of Asia and Africa.

Wikipedia entry:
Circumcision cuts or otherwise removes some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis. The frenulum may also be cut away at the same time, in a procedure called a frenectomy. The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and caedere (meaning "to cut").
Circumcision predates recorded human history, with depictions found in stone-age cave drawings and Ancient Egyptian tombs.[1] The origins of the practice are lost in antiquity. Theories include that circumcision is a form of ritual sacrifice or offering, a sign of submission to a deity, a rite of passage to adulthood, a mark of defeat or slavery, or an attempt to alter aesthetics or sexuality.[2] Circumcision of males is a religious requirement of the Islamic and Jewish faiths.[3][4] It is also practiced by the majority of South Koreans,[5] Americans, and Filipinos.[6]

The medical reason for circumcision is to remove the skin that naturally covers the top of the penis, like a protective sheath. This is done so that it will be easier to take care of and also because it is the social norm. There are also religious reasons for it also, but I am not sure about those.

A normal penis has foreskin that completely covers the head....so when a boy is circumcised...that extra skin is removed so the head of the penis is always exposed. Some say you can keep it cleaner being circumcised...but really really if you teach your son's proper hygiene....it isn't a problem.

an uncut man looks like he has turtle neck on because he has four skin. it's there for a reason it protect the most senative part of a man. most men get circumcised at birth. i don't think it's right to do to any man unless he wants it or he needs it done because of medical reasons. it a lot like if where to cut your ear off. it would kill not you but you'd lose some sounds. well the same it true for men who get circumcised.

Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin, or prepuce, from the male penis.
They only remove the excess skin, and normally it's done when they are infants, but can be done later in life for various reasons.
My nephew just got his done, and he was 7 months.....he was "crooked" when he was born, and we had to wait til it took a turn for the better.

There is an extra ring of skin around the head of the penis called the foreskin. Circumsicion is the removal of the foreskin. Picture someone wearing a turtleneck, and then picture them wearing a crew neck. Similar idea.

circumcision is the removal of excess skin around the head of penis. Usually removed at birth. In jewish religions its not removed until the child is older and during a barmitsvah. Its removed for sanitary reasons and easier to keep clean. Less chance of infection.

okay well do you know what a penis looks like? well if you do theres this one part in the front of the penis called the pupace. It's skin that covers the tip of the penis that at birth is cut off by the doctor. They do because in some family it's a tradition. It's also soppsed to decrease the temptation of masturbation and some do it for religous reasons.
It says that in the old testement of the Bible that God told Abraham to cut the foreskin of his son issac and that every man should do that to their Son too.
I'm not sure, but i think girls are circumsiced too.
well if you have anymore Qs just ask me.

To understand what circumsicion is, you have to know what the foreskin is: the part of the skin system of the penis covering the glans. A circumcision is a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin.
