my slider turtle just doesn't do anything and won't eat its food.Maybe it's because my turtle doesn't have a tank and has very small space to live in.It also doesn't have any light bulb that shines on it. And it doesn't have any ledge to walk up and get dry. It usually sleeps and the water i put for it is not enough so it can swim into. It always sleeps and has very cold water.

Turtles need warmer water, too cold will lower their immune systems and they will get sick. They also need a land area to get out of the water and they need a basking heat bulb and UVB/UVA bulbs, too. They also need a good filter, appropriate foods, calcium supplements, and alot other things. They also need a HUGE tank! Please do some research before your turtle dies! It sounds sick already. Here, go to my site I made for people who don't know how to care for turtles. www.geocities.com/radiofemme/turtles

PS: This makes me so sad. That poor turtle deserves someone who can take better care of him. =(

No at this age the hatchlings do not require a lot of space.Your turtle should still be hibernating as i have 2 three year old red ear sliders and they are hibernating.I do not use an artificial heat source on them . I however tempertaure control the house i never let the room they are in drop below 75 degrees. The warmer the room is the more active they will be.I put pebbles in the bottom of my turtle home and made them slanted so that they can climb out of the water and sleep where its dry if they like. One other thing i noticed. My turtles love to sleep on towels try it when you take yours out it will love to sleep on or in a towel. You do not need a real tank you however should get a start up kit for aquatic turtles which you can find in wal-mart or any pet store and make adjustments to them the key to keeping the red ear sliders is to change the water they are in at least 3 timesa day since they are slightly stinky lol.Enjoy your turtles.

listen to the what the first two people who answered your question. They need a bigger tank, basking light, uvb light, basking spot, a proper filter. if you can give it natural unlight that's good also. a water heater suitable for a turtle is good to keep the water warm.

Well, you are doing pretty much everything opposite the way it is supposed to be. They need big tanks, warm water, good lighing, and varied diet.
