Some idea to look for online:
(1) They both believe in karma, or the laws of cause and effect, and teach about this karma reincarnating from one lifetime to the next.
(2) They both teach the laws of the universe include all souls. Hindus believe everyone is born hindu and remains hindu, as it is a spiritual system that includes everyone. Buddhist believe you can be a Buddhist and follow any faith or none at all. Buddhism is also about spiritual education. So neither claims to be a religion but both have been labelled by other systems as such.
(3) They both teach that humans will someday achieve the highest state of existence. The Hindus call the highest priests the Brahman and the Buddhists call the highest level the Buddhas. So if you follow the good path and avoid bad actions, then you will eventually arrive at the highest level.

Differences:
(1) In general Buddhism focuses more on the discipline of "meditation," which it is most famous for introducing as an established practice, and less on establishing any set beliefs, since Buddhism encourages independent reflection and realization and advises against indoctrination.

At the time of Buddha's teachings, there was much corruption of religious teachings that led to false idols and stringent judgment by social castes. So Buddha liberated the mind of these by teaching not to cling or attach oneself to idols and elders based on authority, but to seek truth by independent investigation, and only believe what was proven true. His reform liberated people from past notions of castes by teaching that you were not bound by birth but could transcend karma. So Buddhist reform of Hinduism is compared to Christian reform of Judaism, by transcending the letter of the laws that had become corrupted by losing the spirit of the laws, which was then renewed.
(2) Hinduism has many gods, while Buddhism does not teach any. In Hinduism the three central gods are the Creator, the Destroyer of evil, and the Preserver of good. In Buddhism there are the three refuges or gems -- the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha, which is the cultural equivalent of the trinity but does not make a personal god of any of these three aspects. If you compare to the Christian trinity of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit, you can see the similarities and differences.
God as "Creator" or the Kingdom of God as "Perfect Wisdom or Knowledge"/"Buddha" as the first part. Christ as the Law of God incarnated, who fufills the Word or universal teachings/"Dharma" (or Jesus as divine Justice who redeems all wrongs and thus absolves all sins and "overcomes all evils"). And the Holy Spirit of the church, or "Sangha"/peaceful order or community, where peace and order is "Preserved," by words and acts of healing and comfort, and charity or Christianity.
(3) In particular, Hindus believe it is the manifestation of "Krishna" that is reincarnated in different masters, including Christ Jesus. Buddhism teaches that a final "Maitreya Buddha" will come once and return a second time to bring enlightenment to all the Buddhas. So both teach a spiritual development process that can be seen as completed by Jesus, but they use different names due to different cultures and historic time periods. In spirit, all world religions must point to the same events in human spiritual development in order for any of them to be true. So some followers already teach this, that all religions are true and just teach in different terms, though the process and fulfillment is the same in truth.

The birthplace of Buddhism - i.e. where the historical Buddha - Siddhartha Gautama found enlightenment was in India. Buddhism thus has roots in the same region that Hinduism sprang from. They share many commonalities - i.e. the importance of meditation, concepts such as Karma, etc. Hinduism however is a polytheistic religion with many deities - while Buddhism pays a nod to some deities, it is non-theistic - i.e. in that the Buddha is not a god and that the whole point of enlightenment is not by stringent ascetic means that Hinduism follows but by what is known as 'the Middle Way' in Buddhism.

The Hindu believe in an all powerful god who is fragmented into many smaller gods, while Buddha is seen as the god for the buddhists ( kind of a one versus many difference) Both believe in an afterlife. The Hindu believe in karma and a reincarnation system that can only be broken by acheiving the moksha (union with Brahma) the ultimate for the buddhists is nirvana (like the song) with buddha. Your lucky cuz I just had my honors world history final like last week. Good luck
