And please don't turn this into "President Bush should" or "Republicans should".

I'm not insinuationg that any person/political group does or doesn't take presonal responsibility for their actions...I would just like to know the number of people who do and don't feel this way.

I'm not a Democrat but I still have an opinion. Everyone should take responsibility for their actions. It doesn't matter what your party affiliation is. Responsibility is a requirement for freedom. If a child is irresponsible then freedom is taken away. If the child is responsible then he/she is given more freedom. This doesn't just apply to children. It is something that is best understood at an early age since you have to live with this fact until the day you die. Everyone answers to somebody. Actually we all have requirements that are expected of us from multiple sources including ourselves. As for the Bush bashers out there. Bush IS being responsible. You are just too blind to see it. I don't care what the polls say. I know the difference between right and wrong. There is another President who had low ratings and he was eventually assasinated. It was said that if he had his way it would wreck the nation's economy. What he did set African Americans free and he did it because he knew it was the right thing to do regardless of the fact that "Cotton was King". For those who don't know, I'm talking about Abraham Lincoln. I'm not comparing Bush to him but I will say that making right decisions doesn't have a thing to do with winning a popularity contest. It has a lot to do with the difference between right and wrong. I hope I haven't strayed too far from the question but to answer briefly... Absolutely Yes!

Definitely (in this world anyway--we can talk about forgiveness in the religion section)--people should take personal responsibility for their actions. This idea can be taken too far--usually by someone who does evil and blames the victim, while making an excuse for their own action.

I started to tackle supporting my answer, and found it too hard to tackle everything. Looking at employment and welfare--you'll see that there is a lot of blame to go around. Employers screwing employees for a few bucks by laying off loyal workers to save a few bucks, employees slacking on the job, people who don't want to work, people who can't work--you'll see there isn't a pat answer. History has taught us that runaway capitalism is as bad as runaway socialism, and that people can't be counted on to do the right thing, so I guess we need government to oversee us to some degree--as much as I hate to see govt in control of anything important.

Vote me worst answer (except for that one guy spouting Marx--he already wins worst)--when I have it all figured out, I'll run for office. I don't want a nation where everyone tries to figure out how to work the least, and I don't want one where people die from things money could solve when we are the richest nation in the world.

YES___From the tone of your question I suspect you believe all Liberal don't work, get free money from the government, and are immoral....I don't know any true Liberal that are like that...there are people who take advantage of things and are worthless as well as there are hot shot rich guys that cheat on their taxes and hire illegals.....I have a blue collar creed, I work hard, expect others to work hard and I don't like cheaters.....I am a Constitutionalist and believe in Capitalism, the only difference between me and a REAL Conservative (not a neo-con) is that of the degree corporations should be contained, the degree welfare should be distributed, and the degree the environment should be protected......

As soon as the two most important people in our government take responsibility for their actions, I'll feel free to answer your question. Shouldn't this also apply to republicans, or are we following the do as I say, not as I do mentality?

Yes. Passing the buck only makes things worse. If everybody stood up and said I was wrong, we would be a lot stronger as a nation. People would be surprised on how easily they are forgiven. Being known as a honest person means more than never making a mistake.

Yes and more parents need to be held accountable for the actions of their children, at least to a certain age.

I can't imagine anyone saying No to this question.

Absolutely! Everyone should take responsibility for their actions and for their situation in life. However, that doesn't mean that society doesn't have a responsibility to offer help to those who need it (after all we are a civilized society, ?) - but that help should come with some guidelines, and people should be forced to "learn" how to improve themselves.

Serious answer: You are under the RETARDED conservative DELUSION that dems don't take personal responsibility. That is a STUPID position and reflects your LEMMING like LACK OF EDUCATION and information about the facts. Take responsibility for yourself to learn the truth and stop slinging sewage.
