It's hard to tell since she was only a week late. A late period doesn't always mean pregnancy, it could simply mean stress has prolonged it.
Definite symptoms of pregnancy are: weight gain, headaches, nausea, constant hunger, tender nipples, larger breast, glossy eyes, and change in complexion, strange food cravings, itchy body or skin irritations, a dark vertical line down center of the stomach, lower back pains, change in mood, disarray, desire to sleep, dizziness. These are clear obvious signs of pregnancy......
Excluding all of the above symptoms...cramping and major bleeding is common with a period however; they are also the two major signs of a possible miscarriage. I would definitely advise her to see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

Maybe. Or it could have been a normal period. Without having taken a test you won't know for sure. It's very common for miscarriages to occur early in pregnancy and appear to be a heavier or more uncomfortable period.

Could be but it could also be her regular cycle. I would go to the doctor. The symptoms of a miscarriage are blood clots, and very painful abdominal cramps. Good luck.

possibly, or it could've just been a late period. My mom had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and I don't know if she had any physical pain or not. (She had plenty of emotional pain)
