One thing please, nobody prior to Truman. Only for the nuclear issue.

Call it a poll. I'm curious who would get the majority.

I doubt he'll get much support, but I would've liked Ike. I could pictured something along the lines of the Eisenhower Doctrine for terrorism, but his reaction probably would have been contained to just Afghanistan and not Iraq (targeting only active combatants against the US). Obviously hard to tell when the answer is so anachronistic, but you'd want someone with serious military experience, and you don't get much higher than Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces.

I'd really like to say FDR, but he was president just before Truman. If I had to go with someone after him, Ike would probably be my next choice. He was a pretty good president, and everyone liked him. He was a good manager of money, and managed to keep the peace with the Russians. Reagan would be a good choice too. Those are just for the sake of answering the question, by the way. Bush did a good job.

Any of them but Kennedy. He would have made an under the table deal and taken credit for solving the problems. If he had been sober and in his own bed, that morning.

I will stay with Bush. How could anyone else have done anything differently?

Any of our post-WWII Presidents would have done a good job except Carter or Clinton.

We had the right one, but, for your answer, Reagan. Remember how the Iranians released the hostages the day he was inaugurated?
