I would rather see a non traditional name than a traditional name misspelled. That sets up too many corrections for life. My daughter has a kid in her class - Casen. My brother-in-law is Almaz. Zarek and Xaren are OK. Zechariah is an underused traditional name. I have also come across a Tegan and Eagan before.

As soon as you start fiddling with things that are not meant to be fiddled with, you just get a mess. Your child will spend a lifetime correcting how people spell their name, it is extremely frustrating. I don't believe in twisting names so they are so full of "i" and "z" and "h"'s where they should not be, what a nightmare for teachers as well. Stick to the right spelling, but maybe seek out a name that is not so over used. Think of the child...please.....

I read an article on http://www.babynames.com/ that said that teachers and adults respond better and think more favorably of children with "normal" spelled names, for example Alexander verses Alixsander, etc. Apparently they attribute more positive attributes and personality traits to children with the normal versions. Just something you might want to consider.
