Yes, because he was an evil murderous, genocidal dictator who tortured and murdered hundreds of thousands (literally) of Iraqi people, (some with chemical weapons of mass destruction). and who was a threat to the free world because of his terroristic threats and refusal to stop his nuclear ambitions, and Iraq's proximity to Iran and Israel He harbored Alcaida terrorist training camps in Iraq, and he refused to stop his nuclear missal development and would not comply with mandatory UN inspections, and I could go on and on. He was ultimately convicted by an Iraqi court for crimes against humanity. I personally do not believe in the death penalty for anyone, but Saddam's sentence was completely in the hands of a democratically elected Iraqi judge, and, as far as I know, he was given all of his rights including the right to appeal. He was not railroaded because it took many months to complete the trial. Bush even tried to request a stay of execution, but the Iraqis wanted him executed and expedited his sentence at their own discretion. Whether Saddam Hussein was executed or just put in prison for life, the important thing is that he is gone, out of the way and cannot torture kill or impose fear on his people any more. Now the new Iraqi democratic government can succeed without fear of being overthrown again by Saddam or Saddam sympathizers, which is the only way to accomplish peace in the region. "Peace" of course is not just around the corner. Things like that, in any case, take time to accomplish. When the new democratic Iraq can hold their own. which will take time as well, then there will be a much better chance for there to be some semblance of peace in that part of the world which will make a difference, big time, in the war on terror.

OK. Putting aside what everyone else has already said (namely: it's a done deal). I don't think it really made much difference for good or bad. Kind of a bummer, though IMHO. As long as he was the obedient puppet of the U.S. and killed who we wanted him to kill the Feds thought he was alright. When he started to pull his own strings...ooh he was so darn bad.
