Ive been talking to quite a few people and they've been saying that the violin is one of the hardest insturments to learn.....Well is it? im sure it takes hours and hours of practice each night but is it a tough one?

Well, I've played violin for seven years. It was hard to pick up at first, mainly because you're doing different thing with each hand. If you have a good teacher though, I think it's easy to get continuously better. And really good technique on ANY instrument takes a long time.

So... yes and no. :)

Instruments that are recognized as hard to play (or play well):

Violin (just ask Joshua Bell how many hours a day he practices)
French horn (easy to screw up the sound!)
oboe (same as above. Tiny little mouthpiece, double reed, sounds like a half-strangled duck)

It depends if you want to be good...

its hard to produce a good quality when youre first getting started, but once you have that mastered (it doesnt take long) you can do anything

Not to mention... if you get really good at violin, you can make people cry... :P which a bassoon can't really do...
