This is a good question that would get some human behaviorists and evolutionary biologists/psychologists going. I'll give you one possible theory.

I'm not sure how much you know about evolutionary biolgy, but all forms of life have two goals, a proximal goal, and an ultimate goal. The former being survival, and the latter being to reproduce. The essence of reproduction is to have your genes live on and on, since it's the only physical thing we really contribute to the world after we're gone. So, an important part in having your genes live on is ensuring that your offspring have a healthy life, and that they live long enough to produce viable offspring, passing along YOUR genes.

So what does this have to do with breasts? Well, in the developing days of the human race, food was not nearly as ubiquitous as it is today, meaning having good food for offspring was a little more difficult to come by. The best food for a baby isn't even something that can be hunted and gathered, but rather breast milk from a mother.

So the developing male linked large breasts with improved fitness to raise a child, and thus made women with large breasts more desirable. This is something that may have evolved by natural selection OVER TIME, where men who mated with small breasted women had children on the whole in the very very long run that didn't survive as well as the children of men who chose large breasted women. And so by natural selection, most of the males who children survived passed on genes to their children which cause them to prefer large breasted women, and so on and so forth.

It's just a theory, so I figured I'd throw it out there.

The first guy is partially right; as animals have sex doggy style, big round buttocks were a major sexual attractant for males. However, when humans started walking upright, the position of the female vagina changed, allowing missionary position sex to be possible for humans.

Buttocks were no longer the primary sexual signal, and females with larger breasts gave a signal which mimicked the bum.

Incedentally, males have be shown to not really care about breast size, it is just whether cleavage is present, which is similar to the top of a bum. Studies have shown that many people can mistake a plumbers crack for sexy cleavage when the bottom of the pic is removed!

We guys are hard-wired to be attracted, I think. Desmond Morris, the biologist, thought that breasts, with their round shape and reddish nipples, evolved as something that resembled the fleshy, brightly colored buttocks of some monkeys. These conspicuous buttocks become enlarged and more conspicuous when the female is in heat, and his theory was that they serve to indicate the female's receptiveness. So we're all just a bunch of monkeys when it comes to finding boobs attractive?!?

I think that it is like something interesting, like something possibly exiting on the humans body. For instance, the peacocks tail, or the you know, other animals. The boobs probably selected for sexual gaming, or foreplay.

Maybe it's just the feel of them or the fact they are like a natural jelly. Kind of like the reason you guys like our butts so much.

I liked Brian's answer, but don't forget, no other large apes have breasts like humans. It could have something to do with hairlessness, but it's hard to say.
