DON'T USE FREEWARE The term "You Get What You Pay For" REALLY applies when talking about antivirus. First of all, you never want to have more than one antivirus installed.. they will conflict with each other (regardless of whether they are disabled) and will render each other less than useless. If you have 2 installed, you must uninstall BOTH, and reinstall the one you want after a complete reboot. I strongly suggest you use antivirus / firewall / anti-spyware combo from a RELIABLE vendor (like McAfee, Norton, etc)... ensure that you properly configure the program and have it setup to automatically update. The reason you pay for these is so that you get those automatic updates AND so that you have an antivirus scanner scanning in REAL-TIME... which means it is always on watching you opening and closing and downloading files... whereas that freeware crap does a single scan only when you initiate it... so worthless protection. Good Luck.

I use Avira antivir personal edition - its free and works great
Grisoft AVG should also be fine
I found norton gave far more problems with my pc than the free SW - antivir is very highly rated

however - i checked the lists and neither avg or antivir seem to have peacomm in their current update (peacomm was discovered on jan 19th.) Symantec (Norton) does appear to have it. first i'd try avg and antivir - one at a time then uninstall. - i know that antivir uninstalls cleanly. google pack has a free version of norton 2005 (free for 6 months) may be worth trying before paying money. Then if that does not work buy norton (it is hard to uninstall - believe me i tried when the free 6 months with google pack ran out)

Get AVG free. Norton is evil.

And you should also get Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware, and Spyware Blaster. They are all free programmes and work great.

norton is really better but unless you are willing to read everything on their site you better not use it. if you activate the wrong parts of it you'll have nothing but trouble. i don't usually recommend it because i know how lazy most people are about reading help pages.
