When the sign said "Mission Accomplished", it meant that the singular mission of taking down the evil dictator Saddam Hussein was accomplished. The elimination of Saddam's regime. That was the primary mission, according to Clinton's "Iraq Liberation Act" (1998), and it has been accomplished.

We are now in the mop-up phase in which Geneva Conventions require we keep a security force there until the local government can handle its own security and national defense.

We are now fighting against Islamists, trying to defend Iraq's sovereignty, just as Saddam was.
