I currently live in an ugly, urban city and I'm so sick of it. I'd love to move somewhere that's actually pretty--not rural--but somewhere with plenty of trees and hills that's within 60 miles of at least a medium-sized city. Someplace that's quaint but liberal would be good. The cost of living can't be too high, either. Any ideas? I'm okay with a wide variety of temperatures and weather conditions, but I can't stand places like Florida and the mid-west that are flat.

I myself have been contemplating a move. I think Portland,Maine would be a wonderful place. It's not too big but has an urban feel. It's seems very liberal and the downtown is really cool, It's right by th coast line. There's bars and small clubs all over and it's cobblestoned, how cool is that. The scenery is awesome, food is great, during the summer this place is a hotbed for tourists from the bigger cities, theres yachts everywhere.

My two suggestions are San Fran, CA or Austin Tx.

Not sure your age (i'm in my mid 20s), but if your still into going out to clubs/bars/lounges San Fran and Austin have the most amazing nightlife but with friendly people!! Both places I had a great time (spent 2 weeks in each) and would definitely consider living there.

Beyond nightlife both are great cities with lots of opportunity for job growth no matter what your profession.

Austin's advantage is that its CHEAP!!

Go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's nice but there are a few rednecks.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania--you can enjoy lots of scenery and watch the Amish going by in their horse & buggies, but the community at large is quite forward-thinking
