How long does it take for someone to get used to their new last name?

I caught on to mine pretty quickly - however, there are some times (not often) for no reason that I'll catch myself writing my maiden name and I've been married for over a year now.

it won't take long at all.
when you are being called by the name it first ring a bell in your ear, then it occur to you that someone you love bears such name,it's a reflex thing, you just react when you hear someone call your new last name.
i can say it's almost immediately.
when you make your change of name in the news paper,sign your name in at work or office,then also when you change some of your vital documents like your bank account, check book,business cards and also your hospital information.you will definately get used to it.

It just depends on the person. Also if the last name is really odd to them it will take awhile for it to grow on them. But then again the last name might never sound just right.

It took me a couple weeks to get used to signing my new last name, but for saying it-I'm still working on it(been 8 months) I still like my last name a lot--I grew up with it besides I want to carry it on...just with my children b/c their isn't any males to carry it on in my family any more.

I got used to mine pretty quickly. But I was not found of my Maiden name. the thing that took me the longest, was the "Mrs" part.......I could not believe I was a "Mrs"!!

But by the time you change your name on EVERYTHING.......accounts, car title, driver's license, loans, credit cards, magazines.......you will be VERY used to your new last name.
