I think it does. I keep on remembering one day in my life-- a few months ago-- and I occasionally compare my happiness to what I felt that day... That makes the happiness seem sweeter, brighter, and stronger because I'm thankful that I didn't have another day like that.

Only if the person who is sad. Is sad because you made that person be sad. Then that is when happiness is truly sweeter.
