Nietzsche is not concerned about humanity at large at all, having realized that the common will always constitute "the greatest number". The common is the masses, the market-place. His attention, his "ruling idea" is for the Higher Man, the Superman, the few. The great can only be few; only the mediocre must be the many. The few cannot save, but must be saved FROM, the many.

look for nihilism, also his views on morality, and God. Also his ideas on power, and his idea on Superman, or Ubermansch( or something like this)
there are contradictions in Nietzsche' s philosophy, but to me, they ring true, nonetheless

You started with a good book. Now, you will find him interesting but not useful in any way. I think of him as someone blowing only a lot of hot air.
